Shabbat Eikev

Mazal Tov David & the Steinberg family

This Shabbat we celebrated David’s Bar Mitzvah after camp and some recovery time.
It was wonderful seeing many familiar faces come to shule to celebrate with the Steinbergs.
Performing at Shule can be intimidating yet David seemed calm and collected and he did a great job!
Mark surprised us by singing “Anim Zemirot” and we now recommend he begins teaching privately.
We are very excited to keep celebrating all the Bar & Bat Mitzvahs coming up :) Mazal Tov David and family and thank you for a beautiful community simcha!

Bnei Akiva Mazkirut is up and running!

If you thought we’re cruising now camp is over, you’re wrong… We’re working on bigger and better programmes, Peulot and activities for our youth.
This week we met to discuss further planning, scheduling and Shabbatonim coming your way. Stay tuned!

Hebrew Club is back!

It was great getting back to buisness and enjoying the great kids attending the Hebrew club every Monday at 3:15.
To kick off the term we asked the kids to pick a picture and a Hebrew word to best describe their holiday.
We then went over the Hebrew words we have already learnt and reminded ourselves how to place them correctly in a full sentence.
We learnt about famous Israeli leaders and managed to have short conversations in Hebrew.
Love being back on track with these cuties!

COMING UP!!

Hold on tight because we have loads of fun activities planned and coming your way…

Young Adults’ Night

BBQ and beers are just an excuse to get together with all our awesome young adults. These young people are a rare ingredient here in New Zealand and we love holding on tight to those still around.
If you know anyone in their mid 20’s - mid 30’s, please send them our way… fun guaranteed (August 3 at 8pm)!

Bullying and how to find a way out…

Being a teenager is complicated for so many reasons and the social aspects play a big part.
We invite you to send your teens to this JNA on August 12 at 8pm where we’ll discuss the different types of bullying, what to do when witnessing someone being bullied and how to be extra careful not to become a bully unintentionally.
This is a complicated and sensitive subject yet so necessary, especially these days.
Please let us know if your son/daughter is under the age of 15 and would like to come.

Shalom Court

We are so excited to be visiting Shalom Court soon and would love our “Bogrim” - graduates from the past three years - to join the fun on August 15 at 10am!
Every year we learn about the importance of respecting our elders and how we can best fulfill that mitzvah.
It is important to us that kids having their Bar & Bat Mitzvah understand the responsibility they now have and the values Judaism teaches us.
We grew up volunteering constantly and are grateful to our family and community for teaching us at a young age, through hands on experience, the importance of respect, love and togetherness, especially with the elderly.
If your son/daughter is a former BM student, please encourage them to take an hour out of their day, and join the fun.
