Rabbi Moshe Rube

Rabbi Moshe was born in the hills of San Diego. His father, in pursuit of residency and fellowships, moved around the USA, providing Rabbi Moshe with a first-hand Jewish education in San Diego, Detroit, Cincinnati and New York. While still young, Rabbi Moshe developed an interest in voice and music after hearing a Chazzan chant the Selichot and from his Zaydee, a cantor in his own right. He studied Music in Yeshiva University and chose to integrate his musical studies with his Jewish studies, via a Masters in Music Education, while studying for his ordination at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

However, he didn’t spend all his time studying. He travelled around the USA, this time as a rabbi, chazzan and community fellow in places like New Orleans, Stamford (Connecticut), Palo Alto and many more. After seven years studying in Manhattan, Rabbi Moshe moved down to Birmingham, Alabama, ready for a change of scenery and community. He has a special connection to the South as his Bubbee (wife of Zaydee mentioned above) grew up in the South and married when Zaydee came to town on a cantorial job.

Now Rabbi Moshe has moved even further south to the community of Auckland, New Zealand.

Shlichim

Ariel and Roni HaCohen

We are the new “Shlichim” of this amazing community in Auckland. We have one amazing little boy - Tomer.

We came on Shlichut after many years of dreaming of it yet waiting for the right moment.

We are grateful to be living amongst such wonderful people and having the opportunity to affect, teach and help others. Our focus is on the wider community and on encouraging our youth to become involved and charismatic community members.

We believe this community plays a big role in the strengthening of the Jewish nation’s needs, therefore, we are blessed to be here fulfilling our dream to help our Jewish brothers and sisters overseas.
