Shabbat Sh’lach

Limmud 2021

Have you signed up for Limmud yet?!
If not, please DO SO NOW!!
You may think Limmud will be different this year given parts of the world are still suffering from COVID. However, we can promise you Limmud 2021 has brilliant speakers and we guarantee you’re in for an amazing experience.
The Jewish people have been going through tough times in the past few weeks. Those in Israel suffered first hand but, as you know, many Jews overseas were attacked, verbally and physically.
We can’t think of a better time to unite with everyone under one roof continuing studies about our history, religion and heritage.
If you’re worried about your little ones, say no more, we have planned an incredibly fun and dynamic day for them as well!
SIGN UP NOW!

NEW: Kids’ Programme at the AHC every Saturday!

Netanya De Coasta and Rachel Beattie will be alternating and running the services every Shabbat so you can enjoy the adult service while the kids enjoy their own.

Preparations for Kadimah’s 50th Anniversary

We are so excited to be taking part in the planning and organizing of such an exciting event.
Keep your eyes out for all the fun to come!!

LAST WEEK…

TOMER HEMED SOCCER GAME
Together with more than 40 Jewish community members we attended the Wellington Phoenix game last Sunday.
We cheered and made enough noise for Tomer to notice us at the end of the game and luckily he came by to say hello and thank us for joining the fun.
We felt so proud to see a Jewish Israeli playing on the field and scoring a goal in the first few minutes of the game.
Loved every second of being there with many Jewish friends to all share the love and appreciation we have for Tomer.

BA Seminar Hadracha

Following the greatness of Tomer Hemed, we moved on to the greatness of BA and joined the Junior mads for the last bit of their Seminar planned by our Merkazet, Sacha Sampson. During the day they spoke about Dugma, the importance and effect Madrichim have on Chanichim and their surroundings, and many more important subjects they will soon experience on this upcoming winter camp. Kol Hakavod Sacha and Kol Hakavod to all our wonderful new Junior Mads.

Meeting our new Jewish agency representative & forming new important relationships

To finish off a very long weekend and a very busy Sunday we met for a 10PM Zoom meeting with Israel and met Orit, our new representative from the Jewish Agency.
Together with Orit we discussed the importance of supporting the Jewish community in New Zealand in any way possible.
Orit was excited to hear about the communities in New Zealand and, thanks to her, we have already had a very productive meeting with the right person to help us fund some more programmes, security needs and more.
We are very positive for what’s to come and are looking forward to having more resources to strengthen the New Zealand community as much as we can.

Hebrew Club

It’s wonderful to have so many students eager to learn Hebrew and have some fun together! We started off this week’s class with a fun “broken telephone” game, as we call it at home, and then moved on to learning a beautiful Naomi Shemer song.
Most of the kids did a wonderful job and, as usual, we enjoyed spending time with them and strengthening their confidence and knowledge in Hebrew.

Christchurch Catch Up

Lucky us, this week we had the privilege of meeting with Mia Silverman to discuss ways we could help Christchurch improve their Jewish studies once a month on Sundays. We’re looking forward to hopefully having the opportunity of being there once in a while and helping the smaller Jewish communities around New Zealand as well as the wonderful Auckland community.

Bnei Akiva interviews

We’re so excited to have the show on the road for this upcoming Winter camp! With lots of hope and prayers we’re looking forward to having Australian Madrichim join our team once again to help us increase numbers and Yiddishkeit.
We have begun interviewing the wonderful Madrichim who sent their forms in and can’t wait for the fun to begin..

Shabbat Shalom to all!
