Israel is Under Attack

Many have been asking what it’s like to be so far from home at such a tough time.
The selfish side of us is happy our wee family is here and not running into shelters whilst the other part of us feels like we should be there, strengthening, helping out wherever we can….keeping spirits up.
Luckily, we don’t call the shots and decisions are made for us. So we are here in New Zealand, trying our best to strengthen, help and lift spirits.
We are constantly working on sharing news on our Facebook page from reliable sources so people can obtain as much information as they need.
If you have any questions, thoughts or ideas, please feel free to reach out, we would love to discuss anything and everything with anyone interested.
Wishing us all and especially, our home, quiet, safe and healthy times. Hopefully, very soon.

LAST WEEK…

Celebrating Shavuot with Preschool

Every time we walk into the preschool, we want to be children again! The atmosphere, the fun and the kind relationships all the kids have with each other plus the most amazing staff, make it all feel like the best place in the world.
Most know Shavuot is not complete without delicious cheesecake so we ensured no preschooler missed an opportunity to enjoy some homemade, fresh cheesecake.
We had a blast making it together and can’t wait for our next activity with those awesome kids!

Support & Info Evening

Last Thursday we held a last minute support and information evening at the AHC.
We sensed there were many questions and concerns amidst our community and we wanted to help wherever we could.
Thanks to our speakers who jumped in to help with no time to prepare and to many others for the last minute help. We were able to assemble a night which focused on the different challenges people are dealing with during these rough times.
Since the evening, there have been many more challenges and social media battles. We are constantly in touch with many teens and young adults, trying to strengthen their advocacy skills and help them “fight back” in the best way possible.

Shavuot as a Community

The warm, special and communal feeling the AA hall was filled with on Sunday night was one to remember.
We loved organizing the Sunday night meal and watching so many community members come enjoy the togetherness.
Thank you to the Kosher Deli for making a delicious meal. We enjoyed every bite and by the looks of the empty dishes, so did others. Tikkun Leil was a great opportunity to hear different speakers and we really enjoyed watching the BA kids do a Tikkun Leil of their own. May we always be able to celebrate the Chagim together, and hopefully one day, all together in Israel :)

NEW: Kids’ Programme at the AHC every Saturday!

We know how it feels to come to the AHC on a Saturday morning and not know what to do with your kids.
It’s impossible to sit in the service with them and it’s impossible to run after them at the AHC for a few hours.
So, problem solved….
We’re now going to have a kids area with games, books, snacks and lots of fun activities running from 9:30-12:00 every Shabbat. Come enjoy the service while your little ones are looked after!

COME SUPPORT ISRAEL

Many people wonder what they can do from afar to support and strengthen Israel.
Just like you, the people in Israel see what’s going on over social media and feel completely alone.
Now, it’s our turn to show them that they don’t stand alone. We are all in this together and they are not forgotten. We might be far but we feel their pain as if it were ours.
Come support, show solidarity, be present.
There will be security and many other people from around New Zealand and the different communities will be joining in. You, as a Jew, can and should be there too.
