Shabbat Miketz

The End of an Era…
Lockdown programmes coming to an end, traffic light system - most welcome!

IT’S BEEN FUN!!!

From next week the women’s workouts and Havdalah will no longer be on.
We must admit we’re a bit sad to be ending our programmes yet very excited to be out of lockdown and back to a “sort of” normal life.
It has been a pleasure starting off every morning together with children, women and families of the community.
Working around the clock thinking of how we can keep the community going and what we can do to ensure everyone is entertained and happy, has kept us very busy and work focussed - enough to forget about the actual lockdown.
Kadimah Tefillah will still be on and we will meet every Friday to share some Shabbat songs, the Parsha story and to welcome in the Shabbat together.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all those amazing people who joined our different programmes, zoom talks and activities we shared together during lockdown. Todah, from the bottom of our hearts.

JNA

This weeks programme was loads of fun with delicious bagels from the Deli and “pass the jar” game.
It was such a wonderful feeling being together again, enjoying face-to-face activities and catching up on everyone’s well being after such a long lockdown.
We got to answer some fun and deep questions, and enjoyed just hanging out around the bonfire together. Thank you all for coming!

Bar & Bat Mitzvah Group Prepares for the Big Day…

Hard to believe the year has come to an end and this year’s Bar & Bat Mitzvah group is already preparing their end of year celebration! This week we got to hear some of the awesome speeches, what this year’s teaching has given them and what they are looking forward to in their Jewish future, the day after their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Can’t wait for the big celebration!

Happy 4th Birthday Naveh!

We arrived in NZ when Naveh was 9 months old and had no idea what it would be like to raise a child with no family to help, give a hand or just support at times.
We feel so blessed to have landed in this beautiful community and, from our very first day here, you took us all in and have given us love, warmth and a feeling of home. Thanks to all of you, Naveh has grown up with lots of grandparents, aunts and uncles and plenty of siblings.
We are blessed to be here with you and thank you all for the family you have become to us, and especially, to Naveh.

Auckland Hebrew Congregation & Chabbad NZ share and shed Light

We had the honour of participating in a joint Chanukah candle lighting with Rabbi Aharon Hacohen which was broadcast live, on the very first night of Chanukah.
We love working together with the different groups of the very diverse and big Jewish community in NZ and do our best to nurture these important relationships.
We loved working with Rabbi Aharon and Rabbanit Yael and thank them for the joint effort in bringing in more light to the Jewish community and letting us take part in פרסום הנס (publication of the miracle of Chanukah).

Chanukah party at the Pre-school #2

We are loving the 100 million celebrations we are getting in this Chanukah and are so grateful to be out of lockdown on time to celebrate! This week we joined the pre-schoolers as parent volunteers and together celebrated for the second time. Although the “Shlichim” hat never really gets taken off, we did our best to be there as Naveh’s parents and, at the same time, loved helping the staff teach, sing and make some Chanukah treats.

REMINDER: BNEI AKIVA SUMMER CAMP 2021

Dear Parents and Supporters,

Bnei Akiva New Zealand & Habonim Dror Aotearoa New Zealand are committed to prioritising the health & safety of our chanichim, madrichim and wider community as we run our camps this summer.

As part of our commitment to creating covid-safe environments, both of our movements have made the decision to require everyone who is 12 and over to be double vaccinated in order to attend our camps.

All of our madrichim are on their way to being fully vaccinated by camp.

We will soon be advising parents of the exact policies and requirements for Bnei camp, including for those who turn 12 shortly before camp, and for children with medical conditions that exempt them from vaccination.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch with us here or contact Sacha +64 20 4023 1866 or email camp@bneiakiva.org.nz.
