Shabbat Bechukotai
Hebrew Heroes celebrating Lag BaOmer 🔥
On Thursday, we were talking about fire and the light within us that can help others.
We had a fun quiz about Lag BaOmer made by Yaniv and the kids had a blast!
We also learnt a new Hebrew song about fire and enjoyed many fun games :)
Lag BaOmer with Kadimah students
On Friday, two important visitors virtually came to see the students after T’filah- Bar Kochba and Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. Both of them were Jewish leaders and are related to Lag BaOmer.
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai was a 2nd-century tannaic sage and one of the leading figures in the development of Rabbinic Judaism. He is best known as the author of the Zohar, a foundational work of Kabbalah and is considered one of the holiest figures in Jewish mysticism. He died on Lag BaOmer and is buried in Meron, Northern Israel.
Bar Kochba was the messianic leader of the Jewish revolt against Roman rule in 132-135 CE. The revolt was ultimately unsuccessful, but Bar Kochba remains a symbol of Jewish resistance and hope for redemption.
Kay’s farewell Kiddush
After Shabbat morning service, we all gathered together for Kay Harris’ Kiddush, made by the amazing volunteers of the AHC Kitchen Guild. After 57 years, where she gave so much to the community, Kay is moving to Sydney to be closer to her lovely family.
We heard many dear people talking about Kay and her endless contributions to the community and we are grateful that we had the chance to know her here; to enjoy her special personality and to see her in Shule every week.
Dearest Kay, we wish you many more happy years and look forward to your visit here ❤
