Parashat Ki Teitze

Rabbi’s Drosh

Dear friends,

Being thrown back in a level 4 lockdown took us back to our very first COVID19 lockdown, when we turned to the advice of the great Natan Sharanski for tips on how to deal with lockdown (see the video below).

The advice is well-worth revisiting as we think about how to now just deal with lockdown, but really make the most of this time.

As often repeated throughout the Torah, this week's parasha contains a reference to our slavery in Egypt, “You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt”.

The message here is clear. Value your freedom! Don't take it for granted!

Having such freedom in New Zealand, when the rest of the world has been dealing with so much fallout from COVID19, it can be easy to get on with life and forget how precious that freedom is.

The latest lockdown is another reminder that Hashem is running the world, not us! It is also a reminder never to take our freedom for granted.

Stay safe and well and we hope to see you online.

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Friedler

Deli Publicity

Great to work with Sam and the team as we received a visit from Denizen. Look out for the feature article about our very own Kosher Deli on their website.

Daily Shofar at Kadimah

It has been very special joining the children for Shofar each day for Elul. One of the things that just isn’t the same over Zoom!

Happy Anniversary

Mazel Tov to Kadimah on such a successful 50th fundraiser and thank you to all those community members who supported.

Can you spot little Deb in the Anniversary photo from Kadimah in the 1990s!?

Celebrating the Kadimah Siddur Ceremony

One of my absolute highlights of the Kadimah school year is celebrating with the students receiving their siddurim at the Kadimah Siddur ceremony!

Checking Eggs

Checking our eggs for bloodspots to ensure the highest standard of Kashrut is just one of things which makes our Kosher Deli unique. Delicious food that is also good for the soul!

AUJS Catch Up

A very special AUJS catch up this week pre-lockdown was an exciting opportunity to hear about AUJS’s Alumni planning.

If you were involved in AUJS (The Australasian Union of Jewish Students) leadership in the past and can help us contact Alumni, we want to speak to you! Please contact Deb for more details.
